Pegasus, Turkey's largest private airline, turned back several Moscow-bound flights overnight and canceled dozens more to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other Russian cities after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russian airspace was becoming unsafe for airlines and insurers. A Pegasus representative told passengers the Turkish side was prohibiting departures and that the airline did not know what would happen next.

Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down 130 Ukrainian drones overnight across 11 regions including Moscow and Crimea, and roughly 80 flights were canceled or delayed at Moscow airports. Putin responded by ordering preparations for large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, and Aeroflot shares fell more than 5% on the news.
