One in three apartment buildings in Kyiv has been damaged by Russian attacks

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko says Russian strikes have damaged 4,000 of the city's 12,000 apartment buildings since the full-scale invasion began, with each attack costing the capital's budget roughly $11.2 million. He said strike intensity is increasing, with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones now arriving nearly twice a week.

The city is expanding mobile shelters ahead of winter, though Klitschko noted only purpose-built bomb shelters offer real protection against missile strikes, and Kyiv doesn't have enough of them. A massive August 20 strike killed 15 people and injured dozens, prompting a citywide day of mourning the next day.
