President Trump campaigned for Senate candidate Ken Paxton in San Antonio on Wednesday night, a rally repeatedly interrupted by protesters, at least a dozen of whom were removed by police.
Trump used the stage to pledge a Presidential Medal of Freedom for Roger Clemens, restate support for executing drug dealers, and defend high gas prices as a side effect of the Iran war. Governor Greg Abbott, who won reelection by 11 points, skipped the event.
Texas Republicans have poured more than $300 million into the state this cycle and Trump has now visited three times in a month, extraordinary effort for a state he carried comfortably in 2024.

Three hundred million dollars is a lot of money to spend convincing a state it already agrees with you. And when the governor who won by 11 can't find the time to show up, that tells you plenty about how the barn feels about it.
