Ukrainian drones struck Volgograd and Samara overnight, with Volgograd governor Andrey Bocharov confirming a 'massive drone attack on industrial infrastructure' while declining to say what was hit. Photos reviewed by Astra showed large fires near the Volgograd oil refinery and the Kaustik chemical plant, a facility Ukrainian drones have targeted before. Bocharov said a residential building also caught fire and one person was injured; residents told Astra no drone alert had been sounded in the city.
In Samara, an oil pipeline dispatch facility caught fire at what Astra described as Europe's largest oil storage tank complex, part of the Transneft network fed by four pipelines from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Orenburg, and Kazakhstan. City and regional authorities issued no official report of that fire. Missile and drone alerts were sounded regardless, surface transit halted, and the metro was pressed into service as a shelter, the mayor said.
