A 50-year-old French father and his young sons were rescued after spending more than 16 hours stranded at sea when their rented jet ski capsized off Koh Samui, Thailand. The father had rented the jet ski for a 45-minute ride around 17:00 local time Thursday; rescuers were alerted after it wasn't returned on schedule, and search efforts using speedboats and other jet skis had to pause overnight before the family was found still drifting the next morning.
The father told authorities rough waves stopped the engine near the end of the rental period. All three were taken to hospital for checks, described as pale and exhausted after swallowing seawater, but were discharged shortly after and have continued their holiday in Thailand.
