Japan has treated more than 53,000 people for heatstroke over the past two months, with 79 reported deaths, as the country faces worsening summer heat. A company is now rolling out the Do Hiemon, a personal cooling box priced at roughly 1.5 million yen ($9,407), in public spaces and to businesses.
CEO Testsuya Nakayama said the device was inspired by freezer vending machines, and a BBC correspondent was given a chance to try one out.
