Kim Jong Un wrote to Vladimir Putin pledging to comprehensively deepen North Korea's ties with Russia and voicing confidence in Russia's ‘victory’ in what he called a ‘sacred war,’ an apparent reference to the invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reported. The letter came in response to Putin's message marking North Korea's 78th founding anniversary.
Kim promised Pyongyang's ‘unwavering support’ and said relations should keep evolving on friendship and formal allied commitments. The exchange follows a recent reshuffle of North Korea's military leadership as Pyongyang deepens military integration with Moscow, and came a day after Kim sent a similar message of cooperation to China's Xi Jinping.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Calling an invasion a sacred war is the kind of language that tells you exactly how much daylight there is between these two governments and reality. Two isolated regimes cheering each other on isn't news so much as it is routine, like watching two people at the far end of the bar buy each other drinks all night. Nobody at that end of the bar is going to be the one to call it off.
