Ukrainian drones hit Novy Urengoy gas plant, disrupting production chain

Ukrainian FP-1 drones struck a de-ethanization gas treatment unit at the Novy Urengoy condensate preparation plant in Russia's Yamalo-Nenets region, according to the OSINT project CyberBoroshno and drone maker Fire Point, marking the farthest confirmed strike from Ukraine's border since the war began. The unit feeds ethane to the adjacent Novy Urengoy Gas Chemical Complex, which has design capacity for about 10% of Russia's polyethylene and polypropylene production.

CyberBoroshno said the strike disrupts the entire chain from raw condensate to finished polyethylene, since gas has nowhere to go without the treatment unit running, though the assessment comes from the same analysts tracking the strike rather than independent verification. The facility's predecessor unit burned down in 2021 and took Gazprom three years and a reported 27.7 billion rubles to rebuild.
