President Trump posted an AI-generated Truth Social video Saturday showing himself kicking down a 'Welcome to Lake Ontario' sign, replacing it with one reading 'Welcome to Lake America,' then dancing to YMCA. The post followed an executive order he signed last week directing the Interior Department to rename Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' on U.S. federal maps and documents only, amid an escalating tariff dispute with Canada.

In a second AI video posted the same day, Trump depicted Canada geese with his hairstyle and human arms carrying machine guns marching toward 'Lake America' set to the 'Hawaii Five-O' theme, captioned as 'Donald Ducks.' The trolling follows Trump's 50% tariffs on Canadian goods, Canada's retaliatory tariffs on $20 billion of American goods, and collapsed trade talks between the two countries.

After signing the renaming order, Trump told reporters Canada has been 'ripping us off for a long time on trade' and that the U.S. defends Canada 'for nothing,' repeating past suggestions that Canada become the 51st U.S. state.

There was a time when a trade war between neighbors was conducted through tariffs, negotiators, and the occasional stern communiqué — not through cartoon waterfowl armed for insurrection. Renaming a lake on your own maps only is the geopolitical equivalent of writing your crush's name on your own binder and declaring the relationship official. The maps will outlast the tantrum; the dignity is less certain.
