Bloomberg reports that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's latest three-hour Kremlin meeting produced no shift in Russia's negotiating posture, with anonymous Kremlin-adjacent sources saying Moscow's demands are hardening as it grows more confident of battlefield advantage.

Analysts quoted include RAND's Samuel Charap, who called the visit timely given escalating momentum on both sides, and EU Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė, who questioned why the envoys went to Moscow before Kyiv.

Russian aide Yuri Ushakov described the Putin meeting as 'substantive, constructive, extremely candid,' a characterization the story notes came from the Kremlin itself and produced no announced concessions.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Calling a meeting 'candid' when nobody budges an inch is a neat trick, the kind of thing a man says after a negotiation where he got everything and gave up nothing. The order of the trip, Moscow first and Kyiv second, tells you plenty about whose comfort came first. Words like 'trust' get used a lot around here for people who don't seem to trust each other with much of anything.
