Will Byron Donalds’ dominance in fundraising result in a GOP victory?

Byron Donalds has raised more than $111 million ahead of Tuesday's Republican gubernatorial primary, dwarfing every other candidate in the race, with backing from the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Retail Federation, and President Trump. His nearest Republican rivals, Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former House Speaker Paul Renner, have raised roughly $10 million and $6.2 million respectively across their committees and campaign accounts.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has declined to endorse anyone in the race, which hasn't stopped both Renner and Collins from claiming his implicit favor. Renner pointed to recent DeSantis remarks calling him a potentially 'really good governor,' while Collins insists his year-old hand-picked status as lieutenant governor still stands as an endorsement in spirit if not name.

Democrat David Jolly, the leading candidate in his primary, has raised more than $10 million combined across his accounts, a fraction of Donalds' haul but still the most among Democrats. Investment firm CEO James Fishback trails furthest behind, having loaned his own campaign $100,000 and left with barely over $2,000 in his account.
