Despite Ukrainian strikes, Russian online marketplaces Ozon and Wildberries are still selling supplies for Russia’s military. Here’s what we found.
Ukraine expanded its drone strikes from Wildberries warehouses to Ozon facilities in late August, hitting logistics centers in Chapaevsk, Orenburg, Krasnodar Krai, Dagestan, and other regions, part of what Ukraine's Defense Ministry calls a campaign against dual-use storage sites. Kyiv had already justified strikes on Wildberries by citing its role supplying drone components to Russian forces; officials said it was now “Ozon's turn.”
Despite the strikes, Meduza found that of 1,025 product listings previously linked by pro-Russian volunteer channels raising money for soldiers, 604 remain purchasable, 313 are temporarily out of stock, and only 79 have been removed entirely. Items still for sale include an assault exoskeleton, FPV drone video receivers explicitly marketed for military use, cargo-drop systems for drones, body armor carriers, and combat pistol magazines, several accompanied by buyer reviews confirming battlefield use.
Most of the vanished listings were mundane goods like coffee, buckwheat, and toilet paper rather than military gear, and neither marketplace discloses whether removals were the seller's choice, the platform's, or simply inventory destroyed in the strikes themselves.
