Elon Musk told former Ukrainian defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov he has no personal objection to Ukraine using Starlink-equipped drones to strike targets inside Russia, according to Financial Times sources, though he reportedly said the actual decision rests with the White House. Fedorov, currently in the US seeking investors for a defense tech fund, declined to comment on the conversation.

The report echoes earlier Atlantic coverage in which Musk said such strikes would be possible 'if Trump says to do it,' followed by a later Atlantic report claiming Musk still refuses to allow the strikes and has urged Fedorov toward a negotiated deal instead. Zelensky asked Trump in July to press Musk on the matter and awarded Musk Ukraine's Order of Freedom in August.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A private citizen holding veto power over a sovereign nation's air defenses, pending a phone call to a White House that itself won't commit, is not a policy — it's a hostage situation with better PR. Everyone involved seems happy to let the ambiguity sit exactly where it benefits them, which is to say: nowhere near an actual answer.
