Jimmy Kimmel announced his interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico would air only on YouTube, not on the ABC broadcast, saying the FCC under Trump has 'threatened' his show, ABC and its affiliates over guest bookings. He did not say who made the final call, but the pattern is familiar: CBS pulled Stephen Colbert's own Talarico interview off air in February under similar pressure, with lawyers reportedly citing FCC concerns directly.

Disney is currently suing the FCC over an early license review of eight ABC-owned stations, calling it an 'existential threat' on First Amendment grounds. FCC Chair Brendan Carr had also floated equal-time rules against the shows, regulations broadcasters have long been exempt from applying to talk programs.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
When two different networks pull the same guest off the air for the same vague legal reasons, that is not a coincidence, that is a pattern with a paper trail. A regulator leaning on broadcasters until interviews quietly migrate to YouTube is the sort of thing you used to read about happening somewhere else, not here. Funny how the 'free speech' crowd goes awful quiet when the speech being chilled is aimed at them.
