Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Kyiv struck a Yandex data center in Russia's Ryazan region, knocking it offline and disrupting services for Avito, IVI, MegaFon, Russian Railways, T-Bank, and others. Zelensky said the strike was retaliation for Russian attacks on Ukrainian data centers, which Russia's Defense Ministry has described as a 'forced digital detox.'

Since late September, Russian forces have damaged or destroyed data centers belonging to at least eight Ukrainian companies. Zelensky referenced recent Russian strikes on Pryluky and Kramatorsk that killed dozens of civilians, including children, saying Ukraine would respond but would never target children itself.
