After Ukraine’s overnight attack, Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery — one of southern Russia’s biggest fuel suppliers — halts operations

The Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Russia's Rostov region halted operations after a Ukrainian drone attack, Governor Yuri Slyusar said, with no injuries reported despite damage to the facility. Russian air defenses claimed to have shot down about 50 drones over the region overnight, part of a total of 592 drones intercepted across Russia and occupied Crimea.

The refinery, the only one in Rostov and one of southern Russia's largest fuel suppliers at roughly 5.6 million tons annual capacity, was also struck twice in August, with firefighters unable to extinguish the resulting blaze for days. Elsewhere, a strike on a Lukoil refinery in Perm sparked a fire and killed one person, while attacks in Ulyanovsk and Voronezh injured 21 people combined, including two children.
