Polling this summer shows Republican approval of the Supreme Court fell from a near-record 79% in September 2025 to 58% last month, according to Gallup, driving the court's overall approval rating to a record-low 33% even as Democratic approval stayed flat at 12%. The drop follows a term in which the court struck down Trump's tariffs, ruled his birthright citizenship order unconstitutional, and blocked him from removing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, despite other wins for the administration on immigration and executive power.

Trump has repeatedly attacked justices he appointed, calling the tariffs ruling

Amy Coney Barrett has taken the brunt of the backlash, with her favorability among Republicans dropping from 34% to 27% between January and July, after commentators and at least one House Republican publicly called for her removal from the bench following the birthright citizenship ruling and her congressional testimony about security threats to her family.
