An Israeli air strike killed seven people, including three children and two women, in a house near Ansar in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh district around 4:30 a.m., according to Lebanon's state news agency. A separate strike hours later in Deir al Zahrani killed two more and injured nine, per the Lebanese health ministry.

Israel's military said it struck Hezbollah infrastructure in response to an earlier action against its soldiers near the Ali al-Taher Ridge, a contested high point in the area. Lebanon's prime minister, Nawaf Salam, condemned the strikes and said the civilians killed were not military targets, demanding Israel halt the escalation.

The June ceasefire framework calls for Hezbollah's disarmament and a gradual Israeli withdrawal, but Israeli strikes have continued since, and Israeli forces still occupy roughly 5% of Lebanese territory. Lebanon's president condemned what he called Israel's repeated violations of the agreement, while Hezbollah's leader separately criticized Lebanese authorities for pressuring the army instead of protecting it from Israeli attacks.
