A Russian strike drone struck a four-story commercial building in Kyiv's Solomyanskyi district, killing two people and wounding two others, city officials reported. The attack was part of a sustained wave of drone strikes on the capital that began the morning of October 8 and triggered air-raid alerts lasting into the afternoon.
Falling debris from an intercepted drone in Holosiivskyi District killed a separate civilian earlier in the day, and at least 11 Kyiv residents have been wounded by drone strikes since midnight, nine of them hospitalized with blast trauma and burns.
The attacks knocked out water pressure across four districts after grid voltage drops cut power to pumping stations, and energy operator DTEK imposed emergency outages across the city and surrounding areas, suspending its published outage schedules. Grid operator Ukrenergo expanded emergency cuts to several outlying districts to prevent a wider collapse.
