Democrat David Jolly, trailing Republican Byron Donalds by more than $100 million in Florida's governor's race, is getting help from an outside ad accusing Donalds of not knowing right from wrong. The ad, from a group called Conservatives for Ethical Leadership chaired by ex-Republican J.C. Planas and tied to the Lincoln Project, is targeting the 17 counties Donalds lost to Lt. Gov. Jay Collins in the August GOP primary, plus the Villages.

Donalds's campaign responded with its own ads touting endorsements from Trump and Ron DeSantis, promising to cut taxes and insurance costs. Fundraising reports show Donalds has pulled in more than $134 million to Jolly's less than $17 million.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Money this lopsided doesn't leave much room for subtlety, so the underdog borrows somebody else's ad and somebody else's outrage. A group calling itself Conservatives for Ethical Leadership airing attack ads is the political equivalent of a raccoon wearing a name tag that says 'Guard Dog.' Still, $100 million gaps have a way of deciding these things long before anyone gets to vote.
