Michigan State University temporarily closed Berkey Hall and moved its classes online after a potential threat prompted a law enforcement assessment, according to a notice sent to students just after 6 a.m. The university said there is no indication of danger to the wider campus and that it is working with police. Berkey Hall houses the College of Social Science, the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research, and the Department of Sociology.

The building was also the site of a 2023 mass shooting that killed three students and injured five others.
