German investigators link Munich arson attack to GRU — FAZ

German investigators believe Russia's GRU may have organized a Sept. 3 arson attack near the Munich headquarters of Rohde & Schwarz and Helsing, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which cited security sources. Two incendiary devices were thrown from a car onto a nearby construction site; one ignited and was extinguished, the other was defused, with no injuries or major damage.

Two Bulgarian nationals were detained near the scene and are in pretrial detention; investigators suspect they were recruited as low-level operatives by a GRU-linked network based in Slovakia. The Munich Public Prosecutor General's Office declined to confirm any Russian connection, citing the ongoing investigation.

Germany has separately attributed an August drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport to Russia and logged more than 165 suspected sabotage cases nationwide this year, alongside hundreds of suspicious drone sightings near military and infrastructure sites.
