Monitoring sites Sboi.rf and Downdetector recorded a sharp spike in user complaints about Sberbank services across Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Novosibirsk region, and beyond, with online banking, payments, and the app and website all failing for users.
The disruptions followed a Ukrainian drone strike overnight on October 14 against a Sberbank data center in Balakovo, in the Saratov region. Sberbank First Deputy Chairman Alexander Vedyakhin confirmed the attack occurred but said all services were operating normally.
Outages also hit Mail.ru, Kontur, Ozon, MegaFon, VKontakte, and the provider SkyNet St. Petersburg. The pattern echoes last week's repeated strikes on Yandex data centers, after which users across Russia and in neighboring countries reported cascading service failures.
