No Kings to host voter mobilization effort ahead of Election Day

A coalition including the American Federation of Teachers, Black Voters Matter Fund, 50501, Indivisible, MoveOn, Public Citizen, State Voices and Voto Latino is organizing a fourth round of No Kings mobilization on Oct. 17, this time aimed at early voting rather than street marches. The events, block parties, rallies and marches to the polls, are scheduled in at least 25 Michigan locations alone, from Traverse City to Ferndale.
Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin framed the effort as a continuation of the group's opposition to President Trump, saying past demonstrations proved people ‘are not afraid’ and this round is about using ‘constitutional right to organize and constitutional right to vote.’ He also tied the push to economic grievances, saying families are struggling while ‘corrupt politicians and elected officials line their pockets.’

A protest that turns into a car pool to the polling place is about as harmless as organizing gets, whatever you think of the cause. The bigger tell here is the line about corrupt politicians lining their pockets, which is the kind of thing every side says about the other and nobody ever quite proves in a press release. Getting people to vote is good citizenship dressed up as a movement, and there's nothing wrong with that even if the branding could use a rest.
