The White House says it has arrested 1,296 alleged Tren de Aragua gang members and charged nearly 350 with federal crimes since January 2025, figures it says were given first to the Washington Examiner. It credits Homeland Security Task Forces launched this year with running what it calls the largest campaign against transnational crime in government history.
The release attributes a nationwide drop in violent crime since 2025 to this effort, without offering supporting detail beyond its own say-so, and blames the Biden administration's border policies for the gang's presence in the first place.

When a man tells you his hog took first at the fair, and the ribbon turns out to be one he pinned on it himself, you can still admire the hog. Arrests aren't convictions, and nearly 350 charged out of 1,296 picked up leaves a lot of daylight in that barn. As for the drop in violent crime, the White House has claimed the credit and skipped the part where it shows its work.
