Drones attack Russia's Leningrad Oblast, strike reported at Kirishi oil refinery

Drones struck Russia's Leningrad Oblast overnight, with a fire reported at the Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery in Kirishi, one of the country's largest, following a strike early on August 30. Regional governor Alexander Drozdenko said air defenses shot down 42 drones and that emergency crews were responding to a fire in the city's industrial zone.

The refinery, capable of processing about 20 million metric tons of oil annually, has been targeted before; Reuters reported in May that a previous strike had halted its processing after damaging several primary crude units.
