Drones reportedly struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai overnight, sparking a fire at one of southern Russia's largest refining facilities, according to independent outlet ASTRA. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev confirmed drone activity in the district and said there were fatalities, without giving a number, plus one person hospitalized in serious condition.

The refinery, which processes 6.6 million metric tons of crude a year and supplies fuel used by Russian forces per ASTRA, has now been targeted repeatedly since 2023, including strikes in January, February, June, July and August of this year alone. Ukrainian authorities had not claimed responsibility as of Friday morning.
