Olivia Moore, a venture partner at Andreessen Horowitz, built an AI persona named Janie — a fictional 19-year-old University of Alabama student — from a single ChatGPT-generated image, then spent about 30 minutes a day for a week animating her fake sorority-rush life with tools like MiniMax and Grok Imagine. Janie's account, posting outfit videos and dorm tours, pulled in 1,300 followers and tens of thousands of views per video within seven days.
Of the 20 videos Janie posted, TikTok's moderation system eventually labeled only eight as AI-generated, and Moore reported the labeling had no visible effect on views or comments. When she revealed the experiment, audience reaction was largely positive, with commenters comparing it to Black Mirror and asking for a sequel.
Moore's own framing casts the stunt as a glimpse of an approaching flood of synthetic content rather than a cautionary tale about platform enforcement. The experiment doubles as promotion for the AI tools and the investment thesis behind them, given who ran it and where she works.
