Jay-Z rape accuser recants claims: ‘I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter’

An Alabama woman who accused Shawn Carter of raping her in 2000, when she was 13, has filed a 12-page declaration in Manhattan federal court stating she never met him and that none of her claims were true. She said she clicked a Facebook ad soliciting sexual assault claims against Sean Combs shortly after his indictment, which triggered memories that a law firm then turned into an October 2024 lawsuit filed, she says, without her review or any independent corroboration.

Carter had denied the accusations and countersued her and her attorney Tony Buzbee after she dropped the case in early 2025; her new declaration was filed in response to that countersuit. She says she began doubting her own claims in early 2025, describes mental health struggles affecting her memory, and says she was never advised she could be sued or should get independent counsel.

Buzbee has not commented substantively beyond telling Rolling Stone that a claim of lying to the court would be new information. Combs is currently serving a federal sentence on prostitution charges after being acquitted of sex trafficking, and dozens of other plaintiffs continue to pursue separate actions against him.
