A Russian missile destroyed a warehouse belonging to Ukrainian publisher Knyholove in Kyiv's Podilskyi district during an overnight attack on October 7, the company said. The facility held books salvaged after an earlier July strike, and the publisher estimates tens of thousands of books were lost again, with no employees injured.
Russian forces destroyed nearly 10 million books across Ukraine in June and July alone, hitting warehouses, publishers, and printing shops, and leveled Kyiv's historic Pochaina book market in mid-August. The publisher says it will keep rebuilding.
