Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a briefing after Russian drones struck a gas station and a passenger train's locomotive near the Ukrainian-Polish border on September 13. Two people were injured at the gas station; the train's passengers had been evacuated after a warning, and a separate train carrying Western politicians was nearby. Tusk said Russia used new jet-powered drones with 'worrying' range and accuracy, and warned Moscow may try to disrupt or destroy Ukrainian border crossings, which could directly affect Poland.

Russia's Defense Ministry said the strikes targeted 'railway infrastructure facilities used to transport military cargo from European countries,' a description that assumes its own conclusion about what got hit. Tusk said Poland would seek NATO help if needed and hoped the worst case wouldn't materialize, a sentence that does a lot of work for a government sitting a few miles from the impact site.
