A Syracuse University focus group of self-described undecided voters, aired on NBC's Meet the Press, produced blunt criticism of President Trump's handling of the economy. Participants cited high gas prices, the closed Strait of Hormuz, and Trump's $400 million ballroom project as evidence his priorities lie elsewhere.

One participant said the president 'does not care' about Americans paying over $4 a gallon, referencing his past comments on the Iran war. The New York Times daily average currently places Trump's approval rating at 37 percent, with some individual polls as low as 30.

An 'undecided' focus group delivering a unanimous verdict against the guy is less a poll finding than a mood ring, and the mood is not good. Nothing here suggests the White House is inclined to update its priorities, ballroom included.
