Iran flatly rejected Donald Trump's rally claim that he would 'pretty soon' declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory, with Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi insisting the strait 'has been Iranian, is Iranian and will remain Iranian.' A White House official later said the remark was made in jest.

Two ADNOC tankers were struck by drones while transiting the strait, with no injuries reported; the UAE blamed Iran, which did not respond.
