U.S., Ukrainian, European, and NATO representatives met in Miami to discuss winterization, Ukraine's energy resilience, grain exports, and long-term security guarantees, according to Trump envoy Steve Witkoff. Witkoff called the exchange 'productive' and said it helped identify areas for further exploration ahead of the next U.S. engagement with Russia.

The meeting came as President Zelenskyy's delegation, including David Arakhamia, Rustem Umerov, Kyrylo Budanov, and Sergiy Kyslytsya, traveled to the U.S. for talks. It also followed Trump's announcement that he'd agreed with Putin to allow millions of tons of Russian diesel back onto world markets, a move Zelenskyy called 'a weak decision by strong partners' that he said effectively used Ukraine's delegation as 'a screen.'

When the envoy's best word for a meeting is 'productive,' that usually means nobody signed anything and everybody's flight home was on time. Meanwhile the diesel decision landed the same week, which tells you where the real negotiating happened, and it wasn't at the table with the Ukrainians in the room. A man can smile for the cameras and still sell the furniture out from under his guest.
