Nearly 500 conservationists from 42 countries attended the 6th Conservation Asia Congress in Kathmandu in June, organized by the Society for Conservation Biology's Asia region with Nepal-based partners. Sessions covered species from snow leopards to Asiatic cheetahs, alongside human-dimension topics like community stewardship and policy.

Organizers disbursed grants covering travel or registration for nearly 160 attendees, over 30% of participants, though many students still called the $229 registration fee too high. Feedback also flagged the scientific program as overcrowded and wanted more coverage of marine ecosystems and conservation social science.
