Americans for Prosperity, its hybrid PAC arm AFP Action, and its charitable wing AFP Foundation form a Koch-funded network that spent $178.6 million through the PAC alone in 2024. The 501(c)(4) parent doesn't have to disclose donors and by law can't be primarily political, even as AFP Action has raised $87.3 million this cycle, largely from Koch Industries and the Koch-linked Stand Together.

This cycle's money has gone toward a $5.6 million ad campaign across seven Senate races and endorsements of a slate of House Republicans, plus seven-figure sums opposing Democrats Roy Cooper and Sherrod Brown. In 2024 the PAC spent $138.5 million on similar efforts — including backing Nikki Haley over Trump in the primary, a wrinkle the group's current alliance with Senate Republicans doesn't advertise.

A group that can't legally be 'primarily' political somehow finds well over a hundred million dollars a cycle for politics, and nobody outside the filing cabinet gets to see the checkbook. Call it social welfare if the label helps the tax filing; the ads calling Sherrod Brown names are the actual product.
