Ukrainian accused in Jarosław attack requires antipsychotic treatment

Polish prosecutors say a 31-year-old Ukrainian man accused of a fatal knife attack at a Benedictine monastery in Jarosław is exhibiting symptoms of acute polymorphic psychotic disorder, including severe agitation and disorganized thinking, and cannot currently participate in the investigation. A psychiatric evaluation found he requires antipsychotic treatment; prosecutors stress the finding concerns his current state and does not by itself determine criminal responsibility.

Prosecutors are seeking three months of pretrial detention in a hospital setting rather than a standard facility.
