Russian strike on Kyiv kills 12, injures more than 30

Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv overnight, killing 12 people and injuring 33 as of 8:15 a.m. local time, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Strikes hit an industrial site in the Sviatoshynskyi district sparking warehouse fires, destroyed upper floors of an apartment building in the Solomianskyi district, and hit a non-residential building in the Darnytskyi district, setting warehouses and vehicles ablaze.

A separate strike in the Kyiv region killed a man in the Brovarskyi district, regional administration head Tymur Tkachenko said. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed the strikes targeted defense-industry sites including drone-component plants and an aircraft assembly facility, an account that does not address the residential and medical-facility damage reported by Ukrainian officials.
