Vice President JD Vance told a Friday rally in Middletown, Ohio, that the American dream of homeownership is 'finally' becoming accessible to young people and framed the November election as a choice against Democratic 'fraudsters and criminals.' Fox News's Jessica Tarlov countered on-air that the average homeownership age just hit 40, mortgage rates are up and construction is down, tying the slump to fallout from the Iran war and the resulting closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Tarlov cited a CNN-SSRS poll showing 66% of adults disapprove of Trump's job performance and 70% disapprove of his economic handling, adding that 70% say he doesn't care about people like them and that business interests shape his decisions. She noted Trump's own financial disclosure showed more than $2.2 billion in income, including over $1 billion from crypto ventures.

Co-host Greg Gutfeld countered by praising the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency, which is chiefly remembered for gutting federal agencies including the Department of Education.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Nothing sharpens a homeownership talking point like reciting it in a housing market that disagrees with you in real time. The rally line about fraudsters landed a little differently once someone read the disclosure form out loud.
