The White House says President Trump and Vice President Vance joined first responders, Gold Star families and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation on the 25th anniversary of September 11 to honor the day's dead and the families still grieving.

A 21-foot steel beam recovered from the South Tower, transported more than 10,500 miles as part of a Tunnel to Towers tour, served as the visual centerpiece of the ceremony, according to the release.

An anniversary like this one does not need dressing up with mileage counts on a piece of steel. The grief in that room was real long before anybody measured how far a beam traveled to get there. Some things speak for themselves, and a press release insisting otherwise is the one part of the day that did not need to happen.
