White House Communications Director Steven Cheung used a slur against Daily Beast Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles on Friday, after she and an editor discussed reasons behind Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt's upcoming departure. Cheung, reached for comment, instead offered the insult and did not respond when told the outlet would report on it.
This is not new territory for Cheung, who has used the same word against members of Congress and a Senate staffer, and who called Coles a different insult last April after she questioned the president's reported weight loss. Other White House staffers have followed suit: a spokesperson called reporters 'mentally ill' and 'glue-sniffing,' and press secretary Leavitt once responded to a reporter with 'your mom.'
