Maldon Salt is running a monthlong promotion called the Perfect Pyramid challenge, inviting customers to spot and post photos of their best pyramid-shaped salt flakes. The winner receives a year's supply of Maldon products, a meal for two at a London restaurant, a kitchen tour, and an overnight stay at a luxury hotel.

The company describes its salt-making process as a closely guarded family secret passed through four generations, and says its product is sold in more than 65 countries. The piece is an advertisement feature, not independent reporting, dressed as a food story.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

So the deal is you dig through a box you already paid for, photograph a grain of salt, and the company gets a month of free pictures out of it. That's a neighborhood kid charging you to weed your own garden. And the little line saying this is an advertisement feature sits down at the bottom where the sun never hits it, which tells you everything about how proud anybody is of the arrangement.
