Turkey holds major naval drills with 14,000 personnel and 100 ships

Turkey's Denizkurdu-I/2026 naval drills began Sept. 20 and run through Sept. 25, involving about 100 ships, 50 aircraft and roughly 14,000 personnel across the Black Sea, Aegean and eastern Mediterranean, the Defense Ministry said. Frigates, corvettes and patrol boats are taking part in live-fire and readiness exercises.

A ‘Distinguished Visitors Day’ is planned for Sept. 24 aboard the flagship TCG Anadolu. The exercise is notably smaller than June's drill, which involved 125 naval units, 60 aircraft and 18,000 personnel.
