Explosions rock occupied Crimea as drones target Belbek airfield and Sevastopol

Explosions and Russian air defense fire were reported overnight in Sevastopol, the Kirovske and Bakhchysarai districts, and near Belbek military airfield in occupied Crimea, according to the monitoring group Crimean Wind. Russian occupation authorities have released no official information on the attack's aftermath.

The strike follows a stated Ukrainian campaign that, per Unmanned Systems Forces Commander Robert Brovdi, knocked out 267 Russian military and energy nodes between July 1 and Aug. 28, including 27 energy sites hit in a six-day stretch in mid-August. Zelenskyy separately said a Russian Su-24M and support equipment were destroyed at Saky airfield on Aug. 22.
