A Forbes contributor ran a mini-experiment recasting 1,000 AI personas across a spectrum of mindfulness levels, then had them perform the Triangle Task, a creativity test measuring how many word associations a subject notices.

Human test-takers typically list 7 to 14 associated words. The AI personas averaged 38, a gap the piece attributes to advanced semantic capabilities rather than, say, the test not being designed for entities that can pattern-match a dictionary.

The experiment also found AI personas who self-reported higher mindfulness scored better on the task, which the piece treats as validation that the task measures mindfulness, rather than validation that a language model is internally consistent with itself.

So a machine that swallowed every book ever written listed more words than a person did. You could hand a calculator a long division quiz and write up the results the same way. The part where the personas rated themselves high on mindfulness and then scored high on the mindfulness test is about as surprising as a dog agreeing he's a good boy.
