A 17-year-old girl was killed and three others wounded, two severely, when an 18-year-old armed with a sword attacked the Brinell School in Fagersta, Sweden, during class hours Friday. Police arrested the suspect, a student at the school, and are investigating the case as murder and attempted murder, with no indication of additional attackers.
The injured include boys aged 12 and 17; a third minor was treated and released. Police fired shots during the response but did not hit the attacker, and two house searches have since been conducted as part of the investigation.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson visited a memorial site Saturday alongside opposition leader Magdalena Andersson, with campaign events nationwide suspended ahead of September's election. No motive has been officially disclosed.
