Vladimir Putin told journalists at the United Cultures Forum in St. Petersburg that Russia has no intention of attacking Europe, while blaming Ukraine for derailing potential peace talks. He said Kyiv launched over 1,600 drones and struck polling stations during Russia's State Duma elections, and that Russia will decide on negotiations based on its own interests.

Putin said Ukraine must 'feel the effects' of Russian retaliatory strikes, describing them as destructive enough that Kyiv is now pushing for a ceasefire. He also accused European countries of escalating tensions and using Ukraine as a tool against Russia, and raised claims about Russian speakers' rights being violated in the Baltic states.

A man says he has no plans to hit you while explaining, in the very same breath, how hard he's about to hit somebody else nearby. That's not reassurance, that's just bad timing on the delivery. Anyone buying the 'no plans for Europe' line ought to ask what the plans for Ukraine looked like before they became plans.
