Saturday Night Live's cold open reprised Colin Jost's Pete Hegseth to mock the Trump administration's handling of conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which returned to San Diego this week after a lengthy deployment during which multiple sailors reportedly attempted to go overboard.

The sketch also lampooned the Pentagon's newly unveiled Department of War logo, with a sailor character comparing it to a Nazi eagle, and referenced the administration's plans around livestreamed executions.

The segment drew directly on prior reporting about sailor welfare aboard the carrier and the department's rebrand rollout.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A comedy sketch pointing out a logo looks like a Nazi eagle and that sailors tried to go overboard is not exactly burying the lede, it is just saying the quiet part the press office left quiet. When the funniest line in the bit is lifted straight from a news story, that tells you where the actual satire is coming from. The department can rebrand its seal all it wants, it cannot rebrand the deployment.
