Critics online noted the disconnect, pointing to grocery bills, gas prices, and an unresolved war as competing claims on his attention, while one tracking site puts his golf outings at 137 of his first 617 days in office, costing taxpayers an estimated $191.8 million.

At the event he also declared the country is doing 'better than ever before,' a claim delivered on a golf course rather than anywhere near the priorities his critics say he's neglecting.

A man who has spent 137 of 617 days on the links is entitled to his opinion about golf, and nobody's disputing the boys played well. But when the grocery bill won't come down and the war won't end, hearing that the country is doing better than ever from somebody standing on a fairway is like having the roofer tell you the house looks great from his hammock. The $191.8 million would buy a lot of eggs.
