Russian forces blockade Oleshky, using residents as human shields — expert

Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, told Radio NV that Russian forces are using humanitarian convoys into occupied Oleshky as cover to resupply drone units terrorizing the opposite bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast. He said only a fraction of the delivered supplies reaches civilians, while the loading process is filmed for propaganda before Russian forces depart.

Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said Russia has long failed to confirm readiness for a civilian evacuation despite earlier agreements and a prepared mission with the International Committee of the Red Cross. More than 6,000 people, including about 200 children, may remain in Oleshky and surrounding areas, with no food deliveries reported since May 26 according to the U.N. Human Rights Monitoring Mission.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has said critical infrastructure in the area is effectively destroyed, with no electricity or gas supply, and residents are reportedly crossing mined fields on their own to escape. Ukraine's National Resistance Center says Russia is using the crisis for propaganda, blaming Ukraine's armed forces for blocking aid.
